How Can My Baby Be 16?

Well you tell me how it happened! One minute she is a baby in my arms and the next she is 16 and I really don't know where most of those 16 years have gone. I am so proud of her as she has grown into a confident, considerate and (in my opinion) very beautiful young woman. Gracia was delighted with her cupcake birthday cake, not very professional looking but it was quite cute and she was thrilled with all the money and vouchers she got - I forsee another trip to London or Lakeside after her exams!

She has worked so hard over the last few weeks to pull her French grade up and feels she may have scraped a b in her GCSE oral yesterday. Also yesterday, David and I went to see Gracia's performance for her GCSE Drama and were completely blown away by the piece and how well the 8 girls acted. It was quite a challenging play and all of them excelled. During the play Gracia used language I never knew she knew yet alone used - she assured me that she only used it for the play and never in real life :)

I am in love with the ScrapaGoGo hybrid elements and after discovering them made 3, yes 3 los and a birthday card with them at the weekend. They are just sooooo gorgeous and compliment the kits really well. The first lo I made used a combination of the hybrid elements, the April mini kit and April's create kit.

For the second I printed out the trees in three different sizes, printed out the just the top of the trees again and layered these on top to give the lo some dimention (and we all know how much I love lumpy layouts). I also used a whole pack of doodlebug flower buttons and some hand stitching.

On the third lo I only used the hybrid elements, printing them out in several sizes and punching out the large 'brads' with a scalloped punch to make them look like bottlecaps and the smaller ones with a circle punch to make them look like brads. I used foam pads to raise the 'felt' flowers and am really pleased with the final result. I printed out the photos in a grid to because I wanted it to look like a comic strip. (The silly things we get up to whilst waiting for David!)

Not a very good photo of the Birthday card but it was early Monday morning and I had to get it into it's envelope ready.

Reasons to be cheerful:-

1. It's a Bank Holiday weekend.
2. Gracia has finished her French oral and so can relax for a little before the final push for her exams.
3. My 6 day backache has finally gone, although I might still keep using Deep Heat because I love the small so much ;)

It's Only a Week Late!

Ok - it's a week late but because of that there is more to say!

What have we been doing over the last few days - well we have been so many places and enjoyed each other's company. Last Wednesday, Gracia and I ventured to London so she could decide on the style and fabric for her prom dress. I had envisaged a 'princess' type dress (excellent for scrap photos) but she wanted a more 'normal' dress, the sort of dress that would be worn if you were a guest at a very 'posh' wedding. We headed to John Lewis, I remembered the size of their fabric department from when I worked in London but alas it is now smaller than our local fabric shop! We did manage to get a pattern for the bodice of her dress (which we have now changed so many times that the pattern was useless) and then went looking for the fabric shops recommended by Gracia's friend. We found a fabulous shop that sold silk at a price we could afford in such a vast range of colours.

We decided to make the dress in three colours. The main part of the dress is a beautiful cobalt blue and it has turquoise and deep purple accents.

We spent the afternoon clothes shopping for Gracia and then went to see the musical Joseph (not one of my favourite musicals).

We have been on lots of dog walks with Kiera and we try to walk via some sort of water so that she can have a swim.

On Sunday we went to Dedham to walk along by the river and for lunch at the craft centre and then to Anita's for a family tea.

As Kentwell Hall was open over Easter with Tudor reenactment days, we travelled over on Monday. The weather was damp but the house and gardens were spectacular, especially the farm. It just goes to show what an animal person I am as I have loads of photos of the animals but none of the people dressed up.

Well, I had better get off the computer and get on with the many jobs waiting for me to do today :(.

Reasons to be cheerful:

1. I am just about to go and have a Hot Cross Bun for breakfast and blow the diet.
2. We went to see Marley and Me yesterday and I still giggle when I think of some of the scenes.
3. We are walking over to Eileen and Hannah's this afternoon with Kiera, to introduce her to Missy!

Ok I admit it - I am rubbish at blogging!

I know I promised to blog on Thursday but I have really been busy and updating my blog is always the last on my list of things to do so gets left until another day :(. I will try to write a longer post tomorrow but this is just to show my latest creation for ScrapaGoGo this little waterfall book and bag. The instructions on how to make it are here but if you need any help please just ask and I will do my best.

Reasons to be cheerful:

1. After 3 attempts we finally have a working model for Gracia's prom dress.
2. We all had a fabulous weekend spending lots of time together without a single cross word :)
3. The sun has shone all day and the birds are singing so sweetly.

A Little Blog Entry

This is just a quick entry as I am intending to blog a bit more on Thursday with, hopefully, some interesting photos!

We have had a fabulous weekend, despite Gracia revising so much. I virtually have to drag her away from her school books at the moment. I have insisted that we watch a DVD together and walk the dog every day over the next two weeks so that she gives herself a brake from revising.

Gracia and I took Kiera down to the river on Saturday and remembered to collect sticks on the way to throw in for her. Kiera loves being in the water and would happily spend all day there. She will even lay in a puddle if there is no other water around. What a change from the little puppy who we had to drag into the river and who was so afraid the first time we took her to the beach. Unfortunately, we have to be very careful when we go to the beach now as the sea water really upsets her tummy.

This is a page I made at the weekend. I wanted to have a go at cutting with a scalpel again, not something I am comfortable with, and so decided to make a butterfly out of the Basic Grey paper. I then was at a loss what to do with it so just put a fairly dreamy photo of Gracia on the page and the title butterfly. As Gracia pointed out the title and reference have no relevance to the photo but who cares I am pleased with how I am slowly honing my cutting skills. They will never be as good as Eileen (the hand cutting Queen) but are beginning to be good enough to satisfy me.

Reasons to be cheerful:

1. I am halfway through March's invoices and should have them all finished by tomorrow.

2. Gracia and I went for a fabulous walk on Saturday and laughed so much at Kiera's antics in the river.

3. I am on holiday for the next two weeks and have all sorts of adventures planned ;)
