Joining in with Fiona's SIPIDI (still loving that word) for the month of March.

I saw these and pinned them onto my Pinterest board

and from their inspiration I made this!

I do so love bright colours.

Reasons to be cheerful:-

1.  In 4 hours 39 minutes, trains permitting, I will have my girlie in my arms.

2.  She is home for four weeks.

3. I have some little adventures planned.

A What’s Apped  photo of you two claiming to be spiderman and frog woman.
Your tomfoolery always brightens my day!

David did point out that Frogs eat spiders!

Joining in with Abi's One Photo 20 Words this month.

Reasons to be cheerful:-

1. How these two make me laugh so hard I snort like a pig!

2. They are both so comfortable with themselves and with each other.

3. I am so fortunate to have them in my life.

New Year New You - February Edition

07:28 Karen 4 Comments

Well, here I am, back with the February edition of New Year New You.

I cannot believe that February came and went in the blink of an eye. I hope your February was a fabulous as mine was. I had a birthday and a wedding anniversary albeit on the same day. My lovely girl came home for a weekend of fun. We have been to the beach, walked the dog in what seemed like a bog but was in fact the local heath and experimented with different cupcake recipes.

But my big change this month is a new hair colour and cut! It is quite radical for me and took a little getting used to but I like how easy it is to style and the fact that it more or less stays in that style all day.

My hair is not quite this red - bad light taking the photo of the page.  I would have liked it this colour but the stylist advised against it - 'for a woman of your age!'
Reasons to be cheerful:

1. Loving that I made this book in October ready to record 2014 and that it takes me 10 minutes each month to print out a photo, finish the page and add the journaling.  A project that will definitely be finished as it is so easy to do each month.

2.  It's the weekend and I should get one of my ATDML retreat classes finished today, the year end ready for the accountant tomorrow and hopefully fit in a food shop and some housework!

3.  20 days until my girlie is home - not that I'm counting you understand.

Happy Scrappy Holiday Memories

I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to go to two crops a month - time permitting, my crop which is on the first Saturday of the month and the Enfield Scrapmates crop which is on the second Saturday of the month.

At the February Scrapmates crop one of the projects I was working on was a little mini album to put the photos in from when the four of us went to Center Parcs in September.

I had purchased a pack of Simple Stories Daily Grind as a Christmas present to myself - well how else does a girl get exactly what she wants? I then decided to make an interactive mini album with photographs of our summer holiday.

I wanted to make a small album that I could get plenty of photos in and to try a few interactive techniques.

It has a double slider on the front page - pulling the top card makes the bottom one pop out also!

Lots of pages with pockets of various shapes and sizes for my photographs

A double centre page.

And finally a little flip book with four pages for a series of photos of Gracia and Josh at the beach.

So there we are - a little 6 x 4 mini album that has a total of  28 photos in!  A perfect reminder of a perfect holiday.

Reasons to be cheerful:-

1.  Loving the happy memories that making this brought back.

2.  Enjoying the occasional little presents I buy myself.

3.  Blogging more because I use almost the same blog post for my blog and the posts I do for ATDML - you may see them twice but at least I am blogging more this year - 2nd post this month and it is only the 6th!

SIPIDI - March

10:05 Karen 10 Comments

I came across this (See It, Pin It, Do It) on Alison's blog and thought what a good idea Fiona has come up with.

I really love the name SIPIDI because it reminds me of the -song Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah  from a film that used to be a particular favourite of mine and Gracia's when she was very small and I can remember walking the dogs and singing this at the top of our voices!

Like so many of us, I have boards and boards of ideas on Pinterest that I pin and then don't do anything with so by joining in with this I will at least get one thing made from my Pinterest board.

Having spent an idyllic weekend with Gracia and David a couple of weeks ago I was really feeling her absence when a quote popped up on my Facebook feed from Mother and Daughter Trips so I pinned it.

This prompted me to think up a scrap page and I printed out a Googlemaps showing the route from our home to hers to use as the main feature of the page.  I also used a photo of the two of us from the aforementioned fabulous weekend.

I used some old MME Lime Twist paper because I thought the woodgrain looked like contours on a map.  Some scraps of Simple Stories Say Cheese.

A couple of cameras I had cut out ages ago on my Silhouette, a velum envelope filled with punched hearts and as luck would have it, at the crop today, Nicola gave us all little packets of biscuits with a tag and windmill on.  The tag and windmills went perfectly with my page!  She was kind enough to give me a packet for David - he did get his pack but without his little windmill because my need was greater than his!

Title is some old October Afternoon Mini Market stickers - which I bought loads of when they were out as I thought the kraft ones would be so useful, and they are and the word Distance cut out on my trusty Silhouette.

My favourate addition to the page were the wooden hearts and badge which were part of a birthday present from my BFF and as soon as I saw the quote and picture from Mother and Daughter Trips I knew the hearts would be an absolutely perfect additon - get me using stash I have only had for two weeks!

So there is my SIPIDI contribution - a page made using mostly old stash and some upcycled bits.

Reasons to be Cheerful:-

1.  Clever ladies like Fiona who come up with such great ideas.

2. Talented ladies like Alison who bring said idea to the attention of other people.

3. 25 days til my girl is home for 4 weeks - I can't wait.
