Kaisercraft Exploding Box Class

At my last crop I taught an exploding box class using the Kaisercraft XO range.  Such a pretty range that I thought it would be ideal for this project which was designed to be used as a Mother's Day gift.  I have added some extra bits left over from making my February in 5 photos pages, which I also used the XO range, and will add black and white photos of our Valentine's Day walk. As I only want to add 9 photos I have embellished some of my pages.

The lid - I added a doily cut on my Silhouette

Close up of flowers and butterflies - the butterflies flutter because they are on strips of acetate.

Trying to show the bottom layer - tricky as it wants to pop back up!

Trying to show the middle layer but like the one above - it doesn't want to lay flat

I really enjoyed working with the crop girls to make their boxes and they were all delighted with the finished results.

Reasons to be cheerful:-

1.  Hannah is staying over and my house is filled with girlie and at times quite raucous laughter.

2. Deciding with Gracia that we will go for a walk every day we can in the holidays.

3.  Spending the first Saturday of every month with such fun, talented and lovely ladies.

A Little More Kaisercraft Love - Eat Me, Drink Me Book

Warning - Photo heavy post :0)

As you may recall, Gracia and I went to the Sanderson Hotel, in the summer, to partake of their absolutely fantastic 'Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea'. This was a fabulous experience and quite a fitting way to belatedly celebrate her 21st Birthday.

Of course we took loads and loads of photos - of the food, of us wearing the teapot crowns, of each other drinking tea, of the crockery, of the riddle that was the napkin ring - you name it we photographed it!

I didn't want to then leave the photos languishing on my laptop but wanted to make a book to 'savor' the moment. I had recently bought a book by Kathy Orta (I would recommend this book as I have made three out of the four projects) and decided to make one of the mini albums as a little extra prezzie for Gracia.  What better paper range to choose than Kaisercraft's The Looking Glass collection.  My local craft shop didn't have all the range but I managed to get several of the papers and supplemented it with a couple of sheets from another paper manufacturer.  As luck would have it, the same shop had the chipboard Eat Me Drink Me words and cup and saucer and the little metal knife and fork.

 The Inside

And just a few (I promise) of the inserts with photos on to give you a flavour of how wonderful it was - sorry about the poor photo quality of these but they were just very quick snaps.

The sugar cubes came in a musical box and the menu was in an old book.

The teapots came with paper crowns on and napkins had paper riddles for napkin rings.
Look at all that calorific lovelieness!
Clock Victoria sponge, chocolate teacup filled with white chocolate moose and mango moose surrounded by white stripey chocolate - Yum.
The lady on the next table let us photograph the marshmallow mushrooms as we didn't have them - due to ours being the vegetarian version.  There were also little carrots made out of meringue.
Gracia modelling the paper crown beautifully.

Reasons to be cheerful:-

1.  Gracia is home for the next two weeks and we have another afternoon tea adventure planned.

2.  Blogging about my book has brought back such happy memories.

3.  A couple of years ago I thought it was too late to go on adventures with Gracia as she was all grown up - different adventures and maybe even better than the ones I had planned but never got to do when she was younger.

A Little Bit of March DT

A quick blog post with a couple of Kaisercraft projects from this month's ATDML dt.  We were all given different paper ranges and I had the beautiful Hairloom range.

I used it to make this page - photos taken on our 29th Anniversary, can't believe that we have lived together for more than half of our lives.  I genuinely do wish I had met him earlier than I did.

My second one celebrates our new front door.  The photo doesn't do it justice as it has beautiful amber and cobalt blue glass around the edge of the windows.  The letter box is very small, in keeping with the style of our house and the postman found a solution to getting an A4 envelope through it today by folding it in half length ways and then folding this in half again!

Reasons to be cheerful:

1. Six more hours and my girlie is home for two weeks.

2. David has found his momentum and is working on the house again.  Only two rooms left to be renovated but I won't even guess when they will be done as it has taken almost 23 years so far.

3.  Two weeks holiday - love working back in a school.

Feburary in 5 Photos

I am really enjoying this way of recording the month - it makes me think carefully about the photos I am going to use and the events I am going to record. Thank you JO for the idea.

 1. Gracia came home for the weekend and we went for a long but very enjoyable family walk.

2.  I went back to Newcastle with her for a few days and she treated me to a birthday tea at Olive and Beans - delicious.

3.  As always we were very silly whilst out shopping trying on different things and giggling at the result.

4. Not a photo taken by me but one I love nevertheless - Josh jumping off a cliff , somewhere exotic, I think in Indonesia but am not sure.  To me this epitomises his adventure.   Can't believe he has had over half of his time away - Gracia is counting down the weeks.

5. A photo taken with my selfie stick - a birthday present that has caused much amusement and has been very useful.  Thank you very much Eileen x

Whilst at the crop on Saturday I managed to make 4 pages - not sure what happened there as I usually am pleased if I come away with having made 1 as I am such a procrastonater!  I used the remains of the Kaisercraft XO papers to make the one with Gracia and Josh on.

I then used the remains of the Kaisercraft papers I used for my month in 5 photos for January to make this one.  It was taken last April but it reminds me how lovely the friendship the four of us have is,  and I love that Hannah considers me to be almost a second mum.

The other two were for my March DT so can't show them just yet.

Reasons to be cheerful:

1.  Love spending time with the EK girls and the fun we have every month.

2. The special relationship I have with my best girl and the fun times we have - counting down the days to the Easter hols.

3.  Looking forward to Hannah coming to stay for a couple of days when Gracia is home - we will have a house filled with noise and girlie chatter and laughter. - can't wait.

Reasons to be cheerful:-

1. The price of cinema tickets in Newcastle.

2. Memories of a wonderful afternoon filled with giggles.

3. A daughter who actively encourages me to go and stay with her and her flatmates.
