Throwback Thursday - 22nd February 2018 - Gracia Rose

Hello, hello lovely blog followers.

Apologies for the lack of blogging over the past couple of weeks but important things like Birthdays, Anniversaries and visits to Gracia and Josh's new house in Newcastle have taken up my time.

I really like the contrast between the black and blue on this page.  I like the quotes and the die cut butterfly stickers.

Reasons to be Cheerful

1.  A lovely weekend spent with David, Gracia and Josh doing little jobs on their new house and just enjoying each others company.

2.  An afternoon spent with a friend chatting, drinking tea and eating cake.

3.  Remembering how much I love simple foods - sausage, cauliflower cheese and jacket potato for tea - yum.

Throwback Thursday - 8th Feb - Hello Gorgeous

08:14 Karen 0 Comments

Hello, hello lovely people.  My third post of the week! What is the world coming to?

Today I have a page from December 2016 to re-show you.  I so love this photo of my gorgeous girlie when she decided to go red.  Unfortunately, the upkeep of the stunning auburn hair was too much for a student so she had to revert back to her natural colour quite soon afterwards.  Perhaps now she is working she can return to being a hot red head, I do hope so.

I used the die cut window shape from Kaisercraft's Ohh La La range.  Carefully cut out the windows and swapped them over so that it looked like Gracia was looking out of an open window.  I then used some of the collectables to make a window box below her.

Reasons to be Cheerful

1.  I love my new job.
2.  Homemade soup for lunch.
3.  Finding time tonight to make my page for the ATDML Scraplift Challenge.

Show & Tell Part 2

18:27 Karen 0 Comments

Welcome back lovelies for part two of this week's Show & Tell.

Well what have I got to show you this time?

Several layouts and my crochet - you may recall that I was making a crocheted blanket, this one in fact but once I started it I found the mis mash of colours very disconcerting and so pulled it all out and decided to make it with wide stripes of colours  going from greens, to oranges to blues as that said autumn in the woods more to me than the multi-coloured stripes.

By tomorrow I should be on my fourth colour and am pleased with how it looks so far.

My first layout was one I made for the Silhouette UK Design Team last week.  The free file was a garland of lips - not one for decorating the house for Valentine's day I decided to make it into a circle and cut it from white card, backing the apertures with patterned paper I also cut some small lips and stitched them onto my layout to look like a garland.   I ended up covering most of these with embellishments so maybe a little bit of a waste of time!

Next I have the three pages I designed for my crop, which has the nicest ladies possible go to it.  The class was a three page class using a 6 x 6 paper pad and some embellishments. I also designed and cut a title on my Silhouette for the third class.

On Sunday I made a layout using this page as inspiration

and again used my Silhouette to cut the title, hearts and stars and to journal around the page.

My final layout, and by far my favourite, is one I made at my crop on Saturday - I am embarrassed to say that this took almost all day due to too much chatting and not enough scrapping.  I designed and cut the pattern for the string art heart on my Silhouette and the papers were from a Kaisercraft range.

Well that's it for now but I may be back on Thursday as I am contemplating doing the occasional 'Throwback Thursday'.

Reasons to be Cheerful

1.  Two lovely walks with Kiera today.
2.  Tom Kerridge's Creamy Wild Mushroom Courgetti for Tea.
3.  I have spent the day playing with paper and pretty things.

Show & Tell Monday

21:05 Karen 0 Comments

Hello, hello lovely blog friends.

Today's post is a little later than usual but at least it is still on Monday.  I totally forgot to blog last week - not quite into the swing of things yet.

So what have I got to show you today - well when I scrolled through my phone to see what I had made over the last two weeks it was 10 - yes 10 -layouts so rather than subject you to all 10 in one post I will show some today and schedule a post for Wednesday with the others.

My first was using the design of the week from Silhouette from a couple of weeks ago - May Your Days Be Cosy.

I knew I had the perfect photo of Gracia and Josh snuggled up by the Aga in their pj's.

I also made a little print and cut card.

Also, for the Silhouette blog I did a tutorial on how to make your own circle and snowflake background.

My next layout was rather self indulgent and a response to a journaling challenge on Mind The Scrap

I am so glad I discovered the Mind The Scrap kits and facebook group they have given me so much inspiration over the past few months and I am eagerly awaiting the February kit as I type.

This one is for a year long sketch challenge I am running on the ATDML # Create Facebook page Loved the sketch I chose for January.

My final page is in response to the monthly sketch challenge on Crafters@Play - I do love a good sketch and Heather, who runs the challenge, always comes up with a good sketch.   Again I used my Mind The Scrap kit.

My quote to live by this month is this one - I follow Amanda Rach Lee and she does a YouTube every month on how to set up your monthly planner with beautiful doodles.  I was inspired and decorated my planner page similar to her one.

If you have gotten this far - well done and perhaps we will see each other again on Wednesday x

Reasons To Be Cheerful

1. Gracia and Josh are very happy in their new house and eagerly awaiting their new puppy in early March.

2. Sunday walks at Marks Hall have become the norm and we all enjoy them immensely, especially the tea and cake that inevitably follws the walk.

3. The prospect of a full day's crafting tomorrow - oh how I love only working three days a week.
